When we first moved into this lovely old house in York it was all a bit of a rush, i really really love the house but oh my, that garden of ours isn't really ideal for a little toddler (we're on the lookout for somewhere new with a whole heap of grass in it). Today was the first sunny day we've had in ages and also the most fun filled day too. With a simple box of coloured chalks we created a magic little garden for us to play in. I picked up the pretty canopy from a charity shop for only £5, i think ikea still do them ;)

Mini art No.1 : the Squirrel :)
Our first arty collaboration - i'm going to have to frame this fella.
P.S i made some crazy crayons for Charlie using this tut, its so easy and fun! They look amazing too especially with bite marks (more pics on that soon i promise). Also take a look at this great intro to using crayons in your artwork, thanks to Alisa Burke my eyes have been opened to the possibilities...
Pass the crayon Charlie! ;)

deconstructing the doodle....
So I found myself doodling at the kitchen counter last night - not my usual style at all, just lots and lots of angular stuff going on, lines, squares, triangles that sort of thing. I wasn't too happy with the finished result (I'm definitely more of a circle kinda girl) so i snipped it up into pieces and randomly stuck it together again to create a doodled collage. I must admit i hated it at first, but then it started to grow on me as these things do. It's a new style and technique for me (i really enjoyed the snipping part) so i wanted to make something from it rather than chuck it. So here's the finished result - a birthday card for my bro, i wonder will he like it? The little fingerprint chick was another surprise discovery - i just have too make more of those little fella's ;)

happy birthday to me ;D
Ever since i saw this recipe in Making magazine I knew i had to have it! I woke up this morning and there it was on the kitchen counter... my rainbow brite cake in full technicolor glory complete with funky candles. Me & Charlie had a slice for breakfast - well it is my birthday after all! ;)
p.s i love my husband xoxoxox

I've been interested in designing my own fabric line for soooo long now - its about time i dipped my toe! Spoonflower looks like the ideal place to start, i'll keep on doodlin and daydreamin in the meantime ;)
